Prof. Diganta Kumar Das

Prof. Diganta Kumar Das, an ex Cottonian, did his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Gauhati University (GU) in Chemistry. He joined Dibrugarh University as lecturer in 1998 and moved to GU in 2001 and became professor in 2013. His used to teach Ligand Field Theory, Bio-Inorganic Chemistry and Electrochemical Methods at GU. His field of research includes electrochemistry of biological model systems and voltammetric/electrochemical sensors. As principal investigator he has completed 05 major research project (01 in collaboration with TIFR-Mumbai on protein electrochemistry) and 02 are ongoing from different government organisations. Under his guidance 13 students have obtained Ph.D. He has 60 research publications in international journals to his credit with maximum impact factor more than 5. He has delivered invited talks on his research in all major seminars of India including MTIC, SABIC etc. More than 25 popular talks on chemistry has been delivered by Prof. Das across the state of Assam.
Prof. Das received the Chemical Research Society of India-Young Scientist Award in the year 2017.
Prof. Das was Joint Secretary of Assam Science Society, State coordinator of Assam Chemistry Olympiad (for 07 years), General Secretary of Society for Chemical Education-Assam (for 04 years), Member of Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (02 Years), Vice President of GUTA (2017-2018), and member of board of studies of different universities.
